Coaching

Hi, thank you for being here.

If you’re feeling stuck with your work or your artistic practice, hey, I see you. I know how much it sucks and how fast it sucks you in. Procrastination, paralysis, spiralling doubts: they act like quicksand.

I’ ve been there and have tried lots of different things to get out. The very best one I found was to have a life coach that has specialised in creativity. It worked so well that I decided to become a coach and help others.

I am a trained and certified life coach. And I’ve been a professional writer for over twenty years. I blend these two professions in a truly unique way. More importantly, the only thing I love as much as writing is coaching writers and other artists. I’ve always been “just” an artist, never thought I’d have a second vocation. But at 25 I discovered I do. I have helped dozens of writers (of all genres) get unstuck and finish their books. And that has helped me in return, to remind me that I too can get back up from any pause or setback, and get back into my writing. Be with it. Allow space for it. Let it unfold—warts and all.

If you’re curious about how coaching with me has helped these writers, please keep scrolling so you can read their words.

Longer Testimonials

  • “I came into coaching somewhat skeptically, because I feared it would be a lot of “woo-woo” talk, and not concrete. But I knew I needed help because I could not keep on fighting my impostor phenomenon on my own, and because I was stuck with the revision of my novel. I stumbled across Laia’s coaching because I knew and loved her writing, and was interviewing her for a lit magazine. Through coaching with Laia, I got to some deeper truths about myself as a writer, which she then helped me navigate in practical ways that I found so helpful, and use to this day. Her method to deal with procrastination is a great example: suggesting specific techniques to confront and circumvent my tendency to procrastinate at any stage. This work was invaluable! Listen, if you’re serious about your writing, and you recognize that you need the help, do yourself the great good of working with Laia! She is a working writer, and brings her own experience as well as her skills as a coach. She is kind. She is a real human. And, she can help with our writerly problems. ”

  • I had been stuck with my writing for years. What Laia offers is very unique — being a writer herself, she knows exactly what you're going through and has first-hand experience with those exact same challenges. She's able to guide you in a way that feels connected and compassionate. Her perspective as a writer, combined with her coaching skills, makes the time you spend with her so much more effective — you see results very quickly. Writing fiction was something I truly loved and treasured as a kid, but over time it became this big burden I wasn't able to get off my back, and every time I sat in front of the blank page it was just painful. To a point where I thought I'd give it all up. Laia helped me heal my relationship with writing, from overcoming my perfectionism and imposter syndrome to understanding that I'm not the only one who's feeling like this — that it's actually part of the creative process. Thanks to Laia's coaching, I've been able to write a dozen stories that I'm actually proud of, and I've been able to develop a daily practice that I enjoy and look forward to. The creative excercises helped me unlock and free my writing, understand that it's just material I'm creating so that I can then shape it into a story, that it doesn't have to be perfect. The coaching sessions also helped me establish a routine or more constant practice where I was able to prioritize my writing over work or other commitments, but also finding ways of not "punishing myself" when I had to miss some writing time. I was able to connect to my writing through feelings of joy and fun, instead of obligation and expectations.

    — MARTA MARTÍNEZ, writer, award winning journalist, producer, editor

  • I'm a historian and I wanted to reach a broader audience. My writing was academically structured and I wanted to write in a different way. Writing was stressful for me. I did not have a good relationship with my writing. After coaching with Laia, I found a creative part inside of me that wanted to get out. Now, I am approaching the writing craft in interesting and different ways. Laia is a wonderful writing coach. She has a remarkable ability to get to the bottom of what is really bugging you with your writing, quite fast. With a lot of care, she helps you find different alternatives to move forward with your writing. If you are looking for a new voice in your writing, Laia is definitely the coach you want to work with.
